According to an article in EQ Educause Quarterly, a new blog is created every half minute and 50 million blogs were created in the second quarter of 2006!!
Concurring Opinions Blog reports that there are currently 308 active law professor bloggers (75% being male). Chicago, GW and San Diego law school have 8 and law schools in the U.S. News Top 25 rankings account for 75 bloggers.
This does not include Albany Law School’s new blogger, Patty Salkin. Hopefully, there will be more…
Perhaps in order to convince more professors to join the blogosphere, we need to investigate the constructive uses of blogs — how they will help advance the law school and how these blogs will both enhance the learning of law students and enhance the scholarship of professors.

One week til classes begin…
Goal 1 (see last post):
Goal 2:
- The Dean has set up his blog site where he will post podcasts of all his classes
- Prof. Baum has set one up where he has posted class materials and a pre-session lecture.
- Several profs have begun to post materials to their TWEN sites.
- Communication has been established with GW to teach the Spring Gov’t Ethics class via videoconferencing.
- Discussion has begun about having an online Master’s program.
Goal 3:

It’s August and the law school begins in less than 2 weeks… so here are a few of my goals:
- Increase the use of Web 2.0 tools (blogs, wikis, etc.) among the faculty
- Increase the use of distance learning tools (videoconferencing, webconferencing, TWEN, podcasting, webcasting, etc.) as alternatives to in class learning
- Increase the use of existing technology in the classrooms (smartboards, doucment cameras, CPS, lcd projectors, etc.) to enhance student learning and class participation
