Lexis Advance for Law Students

Below are my notes from a demo offered at Albany Law School by our Lexis rep-

The LexisNexis Advance Beta version is out…

Coming this Fall … Cool apps for  iPod & iPad, as well as for  Kindle and Nook

What changes were asked for –

  • right results, faster
  • complete results
  • “good law” citing

What’s new –

  • searches saved for 90 days
  • work folders – no limit – easy to sort, search, track history
  • simple & easy searches – like Google

Issues –

  • You must email or save documents to local printer – NO PRINTING AT THE LAW SCHOOL…yet
  • new ALM content and some other content (patents, trademarks, international material) may not be there until May 2012
  • Separate password for Advance at this point
  • Web courses will still be linked to lexis.com platform not to Advance.
  • LMO (Lexis for Microsoft Office) will only work with lexis.com also

So as Westlaw.com did with WestlawNext, Lexis is updating their services to meet the needs of today’s law students.
